HASHTAG LONG LIVE SUMMER + LONG LIVE YOUR FACE
90% of skin cancers and premature aging are a result of UV exposure. Hashtag Debbie downer summer. Well, it’s not all sad news, it’s just, it’s time for you to be aware of the suns damage and protect it. And yes, you can still be stylish. Duh. And while you are stalking all the best bikinis on the internet, here’s a few items you’ll need to not only stalk, but buy, because, face. And because, health.
Hats are in. Yes we know it’s as big a fashion statement as a bikini hence my favorite new hat. But did you know that if you wear a hat outside and sunscreen of 30 or above, you’re reducing your chances of skin damage and cancer by quite a bit? It’s true. My dermatologist and also my mother have been preaching this for years, but I’ve listened pretty intently the last 15 years and my skin is thankful. My mother insists on hats and sunscreen because of experience. Skin cancer is not fun. In some cases (luckily hers), it’s treatable. Thank God. But she and my dermatologist say that sunscreen (rain or shine) is pretty much the number one way to change the way you age. So, slather on that sunscreen, grab a hat and go get your summer. I love this hat from Gigi Pip. Browse their selection here. My hat is sold out but Gigi Pip has plenty more where that came from.
And also, the one piece is back if you didn’t already notice. And if you wanna cover up more than just your face, there’s a new swimsuit company that is doing just that in the most stylish covering that you can do. Enter my new favorite white mesh long sleeve bathing suit by Coverswim, with UPF 50 + sun protection. As much as I’ll be in the pool with my 3 kids this summer, this kind of protection from the sun, in a stylish suit, is pretty much my new summer staple. I'm obsessed.
Shop other looks from this brand and be stylish and protected all summer long.
I honestly never blinked an eye on this topic in my teens and even early twenties, until my Mom insisted. And she's 100% right. And here's the thing. You will never regret protecting your skin from the harmful sun. Because it's your face and we all want to stay youthful for as long as we can. And when there are stylish options out there to protect it, there are no excuses. Ok that’s it. Long live summer + long live your face. K bye.
