THE SWEET SPOT / WHEN YOUR KIDS ARE LITTLE AND YOUR PARENTS ARE HEALTHY

I’m not sure if I heard this on the podcast or on the Breńe Brown Netflix special the other night. Either way, download both. Breńe Brown is brilliant. And clearly has a way with words. Like profound. Literally, she researches all the things we’re too busy and quite honestly, too vulnerable to research. Things like vulnerability. And shame. And it’s funny, once you hear her evaluate these terms in the most adolescent conversational form, everything you thought you knew about life, seems less difficult. Less painful. It makes sense. In other words, she makes it easy for you by conjuring up truth and speaking it straight to your face. And then she says things like this: “Enjoy that sweet spot when your kids are little and your parents are healthy.” Sigh. And then you go and cry a puddle of tears on the bathroom floor. At least that’s what I did.

ROAD TRIP TO PA PAW

My nanny is currently in Kona, Hawaii. My bestie is in Tulum with her husband. Another friend just landed back in Nashville from Skiing the perfect powder with her family in Montana. And we are currently at a truck stop with a flat tire somewhere outside of Atlanta.

There’s a time and place for all seasons of your life. For a first time solid kiss under a Hawaiian sunset, for a long Italian staycation, or for a forever honeymoon with your lover. And then there’s the baby season.

DEAR YOUNG ONE, TAKE YOUR GRANDMA FOR A PEDI

We’re day 3 into a brand new year and with that comes reflection. And with reflection comes truth. And with truth comes wisdom. And well, right now you’re probably not in the market for a “here’s why you should hang with your grandma” speech, because you’re probably in the Turks and Caicos right now soaking up your 20’s or maybe you're just down the street plugged in at Starbucks. Or perhaps you're in Italy living your best life as a young one, that's awesome. I lived in Italy when I was your age too. But just imagine this for one second. Just one. Because your 20’s are just that. 20’s. And then something else happens. And something else. And time evades you.
