I just got off the phone with a friend. The conversation was everything wise that it could be. Evident. And tangible. We talked marriage, love, the ending of the baby chapter in sight and how arduous we are when it comes to wanting something badly and how to execute it. This phone call was my favorite.
This just in. Being real is the new black. Maybe it’s age that brings this wisdom. Maybe it’s experience. Maybe it’s both. But what it most certainly is for sure, is the truth. And whether it’s grainy or crystal clear, when it comes out, it feels like you’re born again. And for the record, that is not a joke. It’s the knowing. The real, beauty of knowing. And what that can do for your soul? Everything.
My husband said to me the other night, "You sure have a lot of birthday dinners to go to." Pause. "Yes I know." I said. "But they're important to me. Super important," I said as I smiled and loaded the dishwasher. He didn't say this because he doesn't want me to go to the birthday dinners. He said it because he was pointing out the obvious in the middle of discussing our calendar. I do get out often with my mom friends. And I'm thankful. And perhaps he's a tiny bit envious? Probably not, but there's good reason and explanation for our plethora of moms nights out and it's not just about getting tipsy on wine and talking about how excited we are about the upcoming season of Big Little Lies.
